Our plan and teaching methodology
Our lessons are carefully constructed by our subject specialist tutors to maximise potential and methodically balance critical engagement and analysis alongside the refining of essay writing. Each lesson ensures
- Analysis of literary methods and exploration of writers’ choices.
- Close reading of extracts and scenes, just like the exam.

What your child will study
The English literature qualification (secondary and separate to the English Language qualification), is assessed across two examination papers and requires an in-depth study of various works of literature: poetry, modern prose, a 19th century novel and Shakespeare. We ensure a comprehensive study of all set texts through a refined and carefully consolidated termly plan.The texts studied arein conjunction with the set texts your child studies in accordance with their school curriculum.
